From Transition to Transformation: Embracing the Power of Liminal Space

The Power of Liminal Space: Why Feeling Stuck Is a Gift
If you’ve ever felt like you’re stuck in limbo—like you’re caught between the old and the new, but nothing is happening—congratulations. You’re in what’s known as liminal space, and it’s one of the most powerful (yet frustrating) phases of transformation.
I know firsthand how disorienting it can feel. In 2020, my country of Trinidad & Tobago went into a complete lockdown. Like many of you, I was forced to sit with myself and re-evaluate everything—my priorities, my direction, my sense of self.
Years of emotionally unavailable partners, full-time caregiving, and the never-ending grind of #girlboss hustle culture had left me drained. Managing High-Functioning Autism and multiple autoimmune conditions only made it worse. I was surviving, but I wasn’t living.
It wasn’t until I fully surrendered to the liminal space—letting go of the urge to rush forward—that I discovered a deeper, more aligned way of being. What I initially saw as a setback was actually a divine invitation to evolve.
If you’re in this in-between space right now, take heart. Here’s how to move through it with intention and unlock the next level of your potential.

Step 1: Embrace the Discomfort—It’s Where Growth Begins
We’re conditioned to believe that progress should always be visible—that if we’re not achieving something tangible, we must be failing. But transformation doesn’t work that way.
Liminal space is where old patterns dissolve and new possibilities take shape. It’s messy. It’s uncomfortable. But it’s necessary.
Instead of resisting this phase, ask yourself:
• What outdated beliefs am I being called to release?
• Where am I holding onto control instead of allowing flow?
• How can I surrender to this season of stillness?
The discomfort is temporary, but the breakthroughs it leads to are lasting.
Step 2: Let Go of Who You Were to Become Who You’re Meant to Be
One of the hardest parts of transformation is releasing the identity you’ve outgrown. Even when something no longer serves us, it can feel safer than the unknown.
In my own journey, I had to let go of:
✅ The relentless need for external validation
✅ The belief that my worth was tied to productivity
✅ The fear of slowing down
As I shed these old narratives, I made space for something new—a life that was softer, more intentional, and infinitely more fulfilling.
Letting go isn’t about loss; it’s about making room for expansion.

Step 3: Cultivate Stillness and Self-Reflection
Liminal space isn’t just about external change; it’s an inner reset. To navigate it with grace, prioritize:
• **Journaling:**Write through your fears, dreams, and emotions.
• **Meditation:**Sit in silence and listen to your inner wisdom.
• **Mindful movement:**Yoga, walking, or stretching can help process emotions.
When you quiet the noise, you’ll start hearing the answers that were within you all along.
Step 4: Reconnect with Your Inner Creativity
When I needed an outlet during another time of transition that I experienced last year, I returned to something that had always brought me joy—creativity.
I launched a YouTube channel, focusing on slow living, elegance, and intentionality. Although I had to pause it a few month’s ago due to tech issues and more personal stresses, it became a powerful reminder that creativity isn’t about perfection—it’s about expression.
I encourage you to explore your own creative side. Whether it’s painting, singing, or cooking, creativity is a portal to self-discovery. (For more on this, check out my blog post: Unleashing Your Inner Creative Dynamo.)

Step 5: Create an Environment That Supports Your Growth
Your surroundings shape your mindset. If you’re stuck in liminal space, take a look at your environment:
✔️ Is your home a sanctuary, or is it adding to your stress?
✔️ Do your habits support the life you want to create?
✔️ Are you surrounded by people who uplift you?
Decluttering, adding soothing elements like candlelight, and being intentional about your space can make all the difference.
Step 6: Build Sustainable Daily Rituals
Transformation isn’t about grand gestures—it’s built through small, consistent actions. Some rituals that helped me include:
• **Morning grounding:**Gentle stretches, tea, and gratitude journaling
• **Evening wind-down:**Reading, skincare, and slow breathing exercises
• **Checking in with loved ones:**Prioritizing relationships with intention
Tiny shifts, done consistently, lead to quantum leaps.
Step 7: Trust the Process and Take Inspired Action
It’s easy to get impatient, but trust that everything is unfolding exactly as it should. When the time is right, you’ll feel the nudge to take action—whether that’s starting a new project, moving to a new city, or simply showing up differently in your daily life.
Until then, keep nurturing yourself, keep exploring, and keep trusting.
Final Thoughts: Your Transformation Is Already Unfolding
If you take one thing from this, let it be this: You are not behind. You are exactly where you need to be.
Life’s most profound transformations rarely announce themselves with fireworks. They unfold quietly, in the moments when we dare to pause, reflect, and realign with what truly matters.
